Elevating Client Trust With Impactful Testimonials
I just wrapped up Episode 2 of the Strategic Motion Podcast with my buddy, Jason Garraway, and I am honestly pumped to share what we talked about. This one is for any business owner who wants to actually use video in a smart, meaningful way. Spoiler: It is not about getting a million views. It is about building real connection and trust.
Why I Started This Podcast
Real quick, here is the reason I started Strategic Motion. Video is not optional in marketing anymore. Just throwing content out there and hoping for the best does not work. You need intent. You need purpose. You need a strategy. That is what this whole show is about.
Jason’s Story: How Testimonial Videos Changed His Business
Jason owns 316 Health Insurance right here in Wichita. We have known each other a long time and I have watched him jump in with video, not really out of desperation, but out of a desire to tell his story better. He started with video testimonials from his own clients. That is way different than a Facebook review. When clients speak from the heart about how Jason’s team helped them, it just hits different.
Jason was honest too. Most folks do not shop for health insurance thinking it will be fun. There is a lot of anxiety. These testimonials became a way to show future clients they are not alone and to build trust before the first handshake.
Real Ways They Use Video
We shared a lot of ways these videos come in handy. Jason shows testimonials during sales conversations to help new clients feel seen. He also uses them to encourage and motivate his team. If they are ever having a tough day, they can see real impact right from their own clients.
He also plays them in the waiting area at his office. It is a little joke, like "we play you some propaganda" before we bring you back, but really it sets the tone and puts people at ease.
The coolest part is that these videos are just as important for the staff as they are for potential new clients. They help everyone remember their work matters.
Sometimes Video Flops, and That Is Okay!
Believe me, we have both tried things with video that totally fizzled. We once put out two YouTube shorts every day for a whole year. We thought it would blow up but really it was kind of crickets for months. Turns out, a couple of those videos got views way later. You just never know. The key is to answer questions people actually have and help them out. That is what lasts.
The big hit was a simple one called "The Truth About the Affordable Care Act." It was just Jason sharing helpful info. Simple straight to the point and super useful. Click HERE to view that video.
Let’s Talk Movies
At the end of every show, I ask my guests about their favorite movie or to share a movie that impacted them in their life at some point.
Jason’s go-to is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I love that movie. "We name the dog Indiana." Classic.
He also loves The Matrix series and even has the DVD set with all the extra commentary. That is my kind of movie chat. We teased a Matrix episode so keep your eyes peeled if you are a fellow fan.
What I Learned (and You Can Too)
Video can cut through awkwardness and help people trust you.
Testimonials are not just for new customers, they fire up your own team.
Your best videos are usually simple helpful stuff, not big productions.
Be willing to experiment. Most wins take time.
If you have not checked out Episode 2 of Strategic Motion yet, now is the time.
