The Power of One Intentional Video
I’m so excited to kick off this series, where we’ll peel back the curtain on real stories and effective strategies behind video content that actually drives growth for businesses.
You know, I see so many businesses pouring time and money into content that just doesn’t move the needle. But when you get a single piece of content, especially video, right, it can keep working for you for years. Let me tell you about one of my favorite examples, which I shared on our very first episode of the Strategic Motion Podcast!
A Story that Lasts
A few years back, we worked with a local estate planning attorney whose website was all text and no video. Like a lot of professionals, he wanted a way for people to truly connect with his story and services, beyond just reading paragraphs on a web page. He actually had three different entities in his business: estate planning, probate, and trustee services.
Here’s the magic: Instead of making a bunch of short clips, we created a single long-form homepage video that told the story of who he is, why he does what he does, and how his family’s legacy inspired his work. The first moments of the video start with him sharing about his grandparents. A real, emotional connection about passing on something meaningful to future generations. There he was, standing on the property his grandparents left behind, and tying it all back to what he does for clients today.
The result? Honestly, it’s been incredible. Four years later, that one video is still bringing him new clients. At no extra ad spend or complex campaigns needed. He’ll text me when folks reach out saying, “We watched your video and want to book a time to meet.” It doesn’t get much better than that.
Why It Worked
Here’s what’s important: We focused on his message. It wasn’t about flooding his site with twenty videos. It was about creating one great, intentional story that answered the real questions: Who are you? What do you do? Why should I trust you?
If people are coming to your website, they’re already interested. They’re not scrolling through social; they’re there to learn about you. That’s why a longer video—3, 5, 10 minutes—works so well on your homepage. Give them depth, not just a sound bite.
And here’s a tip: Once you have a killer long-form video, you can take those pieces and chop them up for social media. Drive people from short clips back to your homepage, so they get the full picture.
The Heart of Strategic Motion
So why did I name this podcast “Strategic Motion”? Because in today’s marketing world, you can’t just throw content spaghetti at the wall and hope something sticks. You need a plan. You need purpose. Most importantly, you need video that communicates clearly and builds trust and done intentionally, with story at its core.
That’s what this podcast is all about. Whether you’re a small business owner, part of a growing brand, or a marketer determined to stand out, I’m here to help you create content that actually works.
A Little Film Talk
We’re also adding a fun segment to every episode called “Film Talk,” where I’ll chat about movies that have inspired me. For Episode 1, it was all about The Matrix—it blew my mind back in college and reminds me how powerful a story can be when it’s told right.
